MIDEGO is Now Realizing Global Helath

MIDEGO is now Realizing Global Health

Welcome to the Global Health Video Class. My name is Dr. Elvira Beracochea and today I have great news. In fact, it is very exciting—I am very happy to share that as of now, as of today, MIDEGO is going to be called Realizing Global Health!

I believe that now we have the knowledge, we have the technology, to really make sure that we provide quality healthcare for everyone everywhere every day.  That is why we have gone beyond the Millennium Development Goals.  We believe that now is the time to make bold moves and to really strive for very, very ambitious goals.  That is why we are working toward realizing global health.

How are we going to do that? We believe we need to build partnerships and to create self-reliant, sustainable health systems that know how to deliver quality healthcare every day everywhere.  That’s where you come in, because I believe that you also want to help realize global health – so we want to partner with you.  We want to show you the systems, the solutions and the tools that we have developed in the last 10 years to really go beyond and really make an impact of global proportions.  Now is the time to make it happen. Let’s get it done, let’s realize global health.

Over the next few weeks, I am going to talk more about our vision and how the health system in each country is going to develop.  We will also talk about how each country is going to really grow to become self-reliant and sustainable – to make the best of the resources they have.  We should not see any more Ebola epidemics.  If there are any cases, they will be contained right away.  We should not see any more people dying of malaria. We should not see any more women dying in childbirth—not in this century.  That is why we must realize global health and that is what Realizing Global Health will be doing.

We want to partner with you! If you share this vision, then please join us.  Remember, every week you will receive this video class where I will share more ideas to work together towards realizing global health. So stay tuned and I will see you next time!”
