This week, Elvira will speak with Avoka Ke-on Cephas who is currently a 4 year medical student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana and former Vice President of the Federation of Ghana Medical Students Association (FGMSA). They will talk about his studies, his NGO work, and his plans for the future while addressing the challenges and questions many new professionals face.

Mr. Cephas has participated in various research and health outreach in a number of rural communities in Ghana. He is passionate about healthcare, especially access to healthcare by people in rural areas. He has done community work in his village, Garu, which is located in the north-east area of Ghana. He is currently working with an NGO (Plight of the Child International) to organize a health outreach program within communities in Ghana.

Mr. Cephas also works with the Standing Committee on Public Health of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations to develop an exchange program that allows medical students to travel to other countries and participate in projects within those countries.

He believes access to healthcare is a basic human right, and all stakeholders involved should work towards ensuring that no one is denied this right. Furthermore, everyone can make a change in our communities, and in our own small way, contribute to the realization of the goal of healthcare for all.
