Achievable global health strategy?

Where is the achievable global health strategy?

Achievable global health strategy?

This week I read the new UNICEF report “One too Many.” It’s good to see that everyone seems to finally realize that, at this time in history, we have all the information we need to know in order to save millions of children’s lives. In fact, we have had this knowledge since the start of the century, if not earlier. That is why achieving and exceeding the MDGs was not only important, but also possible. That is why it saddens me that so many countries missed MDG4, along with other also achievable MDGs. In fact, having this knowledge is what motivated me to start my company to share my experience and knowledge and end preventable deaths. As a doctor, it is very frustrating to know how to save millions of lives and not be able to help to do it.

The report gives good ideas and information but fails to set a clear and achievable global health strategy. We must do better to achieve the unfinished agenda of the MDGs and the targets of SDG3. We must save millions of lives, not only because it is the right thing to do but because we can. We must work differently to realize a global health strategy that empowers every country to have an effective health system. The strategy also needs to empower every health professional to use their knowledge and save children’s lives. It is simple really, though it is not easy. I hope that like me, you also like to do simple things that can be challenging, and show the world how to realize global health goals.
